The Dennis-Yarmouth Regional Dolphins will face off against the Martha's Vineyard Regional Vineyarders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Dennis-Yarmouth Regional is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.
Dennis-Yarmouth Regional fell victim to East Bridgewater and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Dolphins' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Dennis-Yarmouth Regional saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Cambal, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Martha's Vineyard Regional ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Nauset Regional, sneaking past 6-5. The Vineyarders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Cris Cardoza spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Matt Day was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady McCracken, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Martha's Vineyard Regional kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.
The victory got Martha's Vineyard Regional back to even at 2-2. As for Dennis-Yarmouth Regional, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Dennis-Yarmouth Regional has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Martha's Vineyard Regional struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dennis-Yarmouth Regional came out on top in a nail-biter against Martha's Vineyard Regional when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Dolphins repeat their success, or do the Vineyarders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
