Baseball Game Preview: Alexander Bulldogs vs. United Longhorns

For the second straight game, Alexander will face off against United. The Bulldogs will face off against the Longhorns at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Alexander's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so United's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Alexander will head out to face United after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. The Bulldogs took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Longhorns. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For United's part, Alonso Barbarena spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. Barbarena has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hector Cadena, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. RJ Pina was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

United was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.

United is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Alexander, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-8.
