Basketball Recap: Bloomington North Cougars vs. Mooresville Pioneers
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Bloomington North Cougars can now relate to. Their rough 60-34 defeat to the Pioneers on Friday might stick with them for a while. Bloomington North's loss signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.
Mia Robbennolt and Ashley Stegemoller certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Robbennolt scored 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Stegemoller scored six points along with nine rebounds. That was a full 55.9% of Bloomington North's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
It was another big night for Rachel Harshman, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds for Mooresville. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Hardy, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Bloomington North's loss dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Mooresville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.
Bloomington North does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mooresville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Center Grove is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
