Softball Game Preview: Red Bank Catholic Caseys vs. Southern Regional Rams

The Red Bank Catholic Caseys will face off against the Southern Regional Rams at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Red Bank Catholic comes in on four and Southern Regional on three.

Southern Regional's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Red Bank Catholic hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Caseys' pitchers stepped up to hand Holmdel an 8-0 shutout on Saturday. Considering the Caseys have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Southern Regional's hitters rose to the challenge against a Bengals pitching crew that boasted an average of only 2.92 runs allowed on Saturday. The Rams had just enough and edged out Barnegat 10-9.

Red Bank Catholic's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Regional, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.

Red Bank Catholic took their victory against Southern Regional in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 11-5 score. Will the Caseys repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
