Baseball Recap: Poly Comes Up Short

Poly dropped their record down to 17-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Sylmar Spartans by a score of 2-0. The Parrots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

As for Sylmar, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games.

For Sylmar's part, the result came thanks to Alex Martinez's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luis Mendoza, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy Sepulveda, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Poly beat Sylmar by a score of 4-3 on Thursday.
