Baseball Game Preview: West Clermont Wolves vs. Walnut Hills Eagles

For the second straight game, West Clermont will face off against Walnut Hills. The Wolves will head out to face off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. West Clermont's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Walnut Hills' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

West Clermont lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Walnut Hills, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's matchup. The Wolves blew past the Eagles 10-3 on Saturday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wolves' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Caleb Ruberg and Jacob Huddleson dominated on the mound. Ruberg pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits, while Huddleson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Ruberg a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Thomas Tahat was a standout: he scored two runs while going 1-for-1. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Mark Wilhelm also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

West Clermont's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-2. As for Walnut Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
