Softball Game Preview: Shelby Whippets vs. Danville Blue Devils

The Shelby Whippets will challenge the Danville Blue Devils at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Shelby will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak dating back to last season.

On Wednesday, Shelby earned a 6-3 win over Pleasant.

Alyssa Booker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Peyton Bruskotter and Karlie Walp did most of the damage at the plate: Bruskotter scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Walp scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Bruskotter is also crushing it when it comes to RBI: she's brought in at least three every time she's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, while Danville put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Newark Catholic. Danville blew past Newark Catholic 12-0.

Shelby's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Danville, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.

Shelby skirted past Danville 4-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Shelby repeat their success, or does Danville has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
