Basketball Recap: Cherokee Skates Past Knoxville Central with Ease

While Cherokee didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-24), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat the Knoxville Central Bobcats 82-55. The win was just business as usual for the Chiefs, who after four games remain undefeated this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cherokee to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kenady Deal, who went 7-for-13 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Deal has scored at least a third of the Chiefs' points. Another player making a difference was Rylee Sivert, who shot 4-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 26 points and 15 rebounds.

Cherokee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Cherokee's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Knoxville Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Cherokee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-32 win against South Greene on the 28th. As for Knoxville Central, they will take on Oliver Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
