Softball Recap: Edgewood Comes Up Short

Edgewood lost against Madison back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Cougars fell just short of the Mohawks by a score of 7-5.

Ellie Clemmons and Sam Verhoff did some serious damage despite the final result: Clemmons got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Verhoff went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Coblie Burwick also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Edgewood has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Madison, they moved to 2-8-1 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edgewood will take on Middletown at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Middies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.2 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Madison, they will head out on the road to challenge Monroe at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th.
