League recap: Scarsdale scores huge upset over White Plains

The biggest upset of the week belonged to White Plains, who took down 156th ranked White Plains, 34-33.

Carmel was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to third in Section 1 AA. The Rams vanquished Suffern 20-6 earlier in the week.

Mamaroneck's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Danny McCarthy threw for 154 and one touchdown and Will Hofmann had 55 yards receiving. On the ground Robby Nigro chipped in 101 yards. Mat Marino helped Mamaroneck's passing attack out by catching three balls for 44 yards.

The Tigers' McCarthy and Marino have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. McCarthy has thrown for 345 yards this season, while Marino, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has nine catches for 151 yards. Nick Connell from North Rockland leads the league in rushing with 313 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place North Rockland takes on second place New Rochelle. The Raiders bested Clarkstown South last week, while New Rochelle beat Arlington.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Huguenots take on North Rockland. New Rochelle has allowed seven points this season, while Tom Lynch's team has given up three. The Huguenots allowed 0 points last week as they defeated the Admirals.

The Raiders were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Vikings 17-3. North Rockland came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 36 last week.
