Football Game Preview: Haskell Indians vs. Wellington Skyrockets

The Haskell Indians will challenge the Wellington Skyrockets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Friday, Haskell got the win against Electra by a conclusive 46-20. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won four matchups by 24 points or more so far this season.

Haegen Pinkerton produced another solid effort rushing for 201 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.6 yards per carry, and also throwing for 80 yards and a pair of touchdowns. His passing game has become a key predictor of Haskell's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 3-4 otherwise.

Pinkerton was just one part of a punishing run game: Haskell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 244 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 198 rushing yards in six consecutive contests.

Wellington never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Memphis on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 57-0 win over the Cyclones. Given the Skyrockets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while the Cyclones are ranked 1159th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Haskell pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.0 points over those games. As for Wellington, their record now sits at 8-2.
