Baseball Recap: Eureka Wins Going Away Against Mckinleyville

Eureka hadn't done well against McKinleyville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Loggers put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 12-2 win. Surprisingly, this marked the Loggers' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Royce Olson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Robert Williams was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jesse Vasquez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Eureka is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for McKinleyville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5.

Coming up, Eureka will host Red Bluff at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for McKinleyville, they will face off against Del Norte at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
