Softball Recap: Philipsburg-Osceola Find Success

Philipsburg-Osceola got themselves on the board against Central on Saturday, but Central never followed suit. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Dragons. The victory continues a trend for the Mountaineers in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won three in a row.

Not much got past Alivia Bizzarri, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Central off the board. Bizzarri has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Philipsburg-Osceola's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ashlyn Havens, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Mckenna Thorp also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Philipsburg-Osceola hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central struck out eight times.

Philipsburg-Osceola's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Philipsburg-Osceola will challenge Bishop Guilfoyle at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Marauders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.77 runs per game on average), something the Mountaineers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Central, they will take on Penns Valley Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
