Softball Recap: Queen Creek Picks Up 17th Straight Win on the Road

Queen Creek entered their tilt with Williams Field on Monday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They put the hurt on the Black Hawks with a sharp 16-1 win. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Alexis Mendez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Emma Reynolds and Kayla Porter did most of the damage at the plate: Reynolds went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one double, while Porter went 3-for-4 with five RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Porter a new career-high. Madison Peterson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

Queen Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Williams Field only posted an OBP of .130.

Queen Creek pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Williams Field, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13-1 record this season.

Queen Creek will venture away from home to take on Mountain Ridge at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Williams Field will be paying especially close attention to the Bulldogs' game: after the Bulldogs faces off against the Mountain Lions, they'll take on Williams Field again at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
