Baseball Recap: East Palestine Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

East Palestine had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 10-7 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the East Liverpool Potters by a score of 12-7. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 11-1 victory the Potters walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Cale Moraski was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Clark Rutledge, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

East Palestine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

As for East Liverpool, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-17. On the bright side, the seven- run effort marked their highest-scoring game to date.

On East Liverpool's side, Nate Birch put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Birch a new career-low. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That run marked the first that he has scored this season.

Birch wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grant Wright, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Kasen Ramsey also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Looking ahead, East Palestine will challenge Leetonia at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a three-game losing streak. East Liverpool has already played their next match (against Oak Glen), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
