Preview: Gentry Rams vs. Yazoo City Indians
Gentry has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Yazoo City Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Gentry beat Greenville 55-49. The victory was just what Gentry needed coming off of a 73-47 defeat in their prior matchup.
Even though Yazoo City has not done well against Holmes County Central recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Yazoo City strolled past Holmes County Central with points to spare, taking the game 57-42. Given Yazoo City's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Holmes County Central is ranked 150th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gentry's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-13. As for Yazoo City, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with that win, which was their 11th straight on the road.
