Baseball Recap: Ritchie County Takes a Loss

Ritchie County extended their losing streak to 15 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-15. They lost 14-6 to the Wirt County Tigers. The game snapped a strange streak: the last six times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Ritchie County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Waugaman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run. That run marked the first that Waugaman has scored this season.

As for Wirt County, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Wirt County's side, Wyatt Boice was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. Boice was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Ritchie County will head out to face off against St. Marys at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wirt County, they will take on Gilmer County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season.
