Baseball Recap: Hancock Comes Up Short

Shepard hit Hancock with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles lost 11-1 to the Astros. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Astros this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-5 back in March.

Hancock saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alejandro Porras, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Hancock's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-17. As for Shepard, they moved to 12-16-2 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Hancock will square off against Oak Forest at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shepard, they will challenge Crete-Monee at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Astros surely won't give up without a fight.
