Football Recap: Eastside Comes Up Short

Eastside started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Churubusco. They fell 19-14 to the Eagles on Friday. The Blazers gained 204 more yards on the day, but it was the Eagles that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Eastside lost, don't look at Job Richman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 240 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Richman's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 126 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Eastside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Churubusco, the win also got them back to even at 2-2.

Coming up, Eastside will square off against Garrett at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Railroaders' defense has only allowed 12.2 points per game this season, so the Blazers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Churubusco, they will challenge Prairie Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
