While Polytech put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Wilmington Charter. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Force. Considering the Panthers have won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Elijiah Benton made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Benton was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hermes Rodriguez was incredible, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Richard Clegg also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Polytech has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Wilmington Charter, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-10.
Looking ahead, Polytech will welcome Seaford at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bluejays have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.78 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wilmington Charter, they will face off against St. Elizabeth at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
