Softball Recap: Houston Mustangs vs. Crockett County Cavaliers

After flying high against Covington last Saturday, Houston came back down to earth. The Houston Mustangs fell just short of the Crockett County Cavaliers by a score of 7-6 on Monday. Houston was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Crockett County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Wednesday.

Lindsey Barnes was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylea Howell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

On Crockett County's side, Anna Stallings looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kinleigh Lamb, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Gabby Bursey, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Houston dropped their record down to 12-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Crockett County, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 19-9.

As for Crockett County, they will be playing at home against Dyer County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crockett County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Dyer County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
