Flag Football Recap: Sunrise Mountain Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for Sunrise Mountain's offense. They had to suffer through a 51-0 loss at the hands of the Highland Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona flag football rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Hawks are ranked first).

Alexis Eley had another great game (as she tends to do), throwing for 213 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.9% of her passes, and also rushing for 111 yards on only nine carries for Highland. Eley has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last five times she's played. 96 of Eley's passing yards were hauled in by Ela Witcher.

Sunrise Mountain moved to 3-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Highland, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Sunrise Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-7 loss against Liberty on the 9th. As for Highland, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 21-3 victory against Canyon View on the 9th.
