Volleyball Recap: Alcorn Central Extends Winning Streak to Six

Alcorn Central came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Lafayette Commodores. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Commodores back in August, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Alcorn Central got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 32-30, 19-25, 25-16.

Alcorn Central was led to victory by Maddi Marlar and Adysen Davis. Marlar had 16 digs and two aces, while Davis had 13 digs. Those 16 digs gave Marlar a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Alcorn Central was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive games.

Alcorn Central's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Lafayette, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alcorn Central will face off against Mantachie at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lafayette, they will square off against West Point at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
