Baseball Recap: Salem Drops Highest Score of Season Against Argyle

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salem). They were the clear victors by an 18-8 margin over the Argyle Scots on Wednesday. With that victory, the Generals brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

James Beagle made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Beagle was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Stephen Yakubec and Quinten Rushinski did most of the damage at the plate: Yakubec went 3-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and one RBI, while Rushinski got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those RBI marked the first that Rushinski has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Ethan Dunham, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Salem kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Salem's record now sits at 5-3. As for Argyle, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
