Softball Recap: Taylor Drops Season-High Score on Finneytown

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taylor). They never let the Finneytown Wildcats get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Thursday. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 12 runs or more this season.

Ellie Stafford made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma King, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ady Franke, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Taylor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Taylor pushed their record up to 4-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Finneytown, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
