Softball Game Preview: Orange Glen Patriots vs. Lincoln Hornets

For the second straight game, Orange Glen will face off against Lincoln. The Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Orange Glen has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Orange Glen had been on a five-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Lincoln put an end to it on Friday. The Patriots came up short against the Hornets, falling 15-0. The shutout was out of character for the Patriots seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.

For Lincoln's part, the team relied heavily on Nyema Curtis, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Curtis a new career-high. Jayla Howard was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive matchups.

Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.9 runs. As for Orange Glen, they dropped their record down to 11-13-1 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
