Baseball Game Preview: West Memphis Blue Devils vs. Wynne Yellowjackets

West Memphis is 1-8 against Wynne since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. West Memphis has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West Memphis' last matchup with White Station could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Wednesday. The Blue Devils lost 16-6 to the Spartans. The Blue Devils just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Nolan Rodgers and Cyrone Madison stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rodgers went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double, while Madison got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Rodgers has become a key player for West Memphis: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-16 otherwise. Randy East also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wynne). They blew past Trumann 22-6 on Wednesday. The win was nothing new for the Yellowjackets as they're now sitting on five straight.

Wynne's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for West Memphis, their loss dropped their record down to 5-17.
