Walnut Ridge extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They fell 11-7 to the Marion-Franklin Red Devils. On the bright side, the seven- run performance marked the Scots' highest-scoring contest to date.

As for Marion-Franklin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games.

For Marion-Franklin's part, Maxin Warner was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Warner is becoming a predictor of the Red Devils' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Chris Crawford, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Coming up, Walnut Ridge will challenge Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Marion-Franklin, they will face off against Beechcroft at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
