Baseball Recap: Lemon Bay Victorious

After losing to Charlotte the last time they met, Lemon Bay decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Manta Rays walked away with a 7-2 win over the Fightin' Tarpons on Thursday. The game was the first time the Manta Rays have beaten the Fightin' Tarpons on their field since February 28, 2022.

Wilson Shaw made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Lemon Bay is 5-1 when Shaw allows two or fewer earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Shaw was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Bush, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Lemon Bay: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

Lemon Bay's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Charlotte, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-9.

Lemon Bay has already played their next matchup, an 8-4 win against Aubrey Rogers on the 11th. As for Charlotte, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against IMG Academy Gold on the 11th.
