Basketball Recap: Bellevue Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Bellevue took on Newport on Wednesday. The Bellevue Tigers came up short against the Newport Wildcats, falling 69-43. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-32 back in January.

Newport's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amontae Lowe, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was James Turner, who posted eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Bellevue has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season. The victory made it two in a row for Newport and bumps their season record up to 17-10.

Bellevue does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Newport, they will take on Highlands at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Newport's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
