With a playoff win on the line, Ashley rose to the challenge on Thursday. They won by a goal and slipped past the Riverside-Durham Pirates 2-1. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Ashley's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Riverside-Durham are ranked 115th).

Luke Tierney and Clark Marriott scored both of Ashley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Ashley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those six matchups. As for Riverside-Durham, they now have a losing record of 9-10-4.

As of now, neither Ashley nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
