Basketball Game Preview: McCreary Central Raiders vs. Buckhorn Wildcats

The McCreary Central Raiders just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Buckhorn Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in McCreary Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 matchups.

On Friday, everything came up roses for McCreary Central against Cordia as the team secured an 84-52 win. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Lions are ranked 268th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Buckhorn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 78-38 defeat at the hands of Perry County Central.

McCreary Central is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.1 points over those games. As for Buckhorn, their loss dropped their record down to 7-18.

McCreary Central came up short against Buckhorn when the teams last played back in December of 2016, falling 85-74. Can McCreary Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
