It's playoff time, and Ponaganset had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over the Middletown Islanders on Monday. The result was nothing new for Ponaganset, who have now won nine contests by three goals or more so far this season.

The win (which was Ponaganset's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-7-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those four matches. As for Middletown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11-1.

Ponaganset and Middletown are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Chieftains will take on Narragansett on Thursday. Ponaganset's defense better be ready for this one: Narragansett have averaged an impressive 3.4 goals per game this season. As for Middletown, they will square off against Cranston East at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
