Basketball Recap: Mt. Rainier Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Falcon Tross and Tanner Simpson

Mt. Rainier lost against Auburn back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mt. Rainier Rams received a blow as they fell 67-51 to the Auburn Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Trojans are ranked fourth).

Mt. Rainier's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tanner Simpson, who posted 17 points, and Falcon Tross, who put up ten points and five boards. Tross continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Dolce, who had 11 points.

Mt. Rainier's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Auburn, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Rainier will take on Tahoma at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mt. Rainier is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season. Auburn has already played their next match (against Kennedy Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
