Basketball Recap: Crystal City Takes a Loss

Crystal City lost against St. Paul Lutheran back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Crystal City Hornets took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Paul Lutheran Giants. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Crystal City saw an underclassman step up: freshman Addison Bova went 8 for 15 on her way to 22 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kadence Buechting, who posted five points and ten boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Paul Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooklyn Weibrecht, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and seven steals. Weibrecht has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 12 times she's played. Mia Sherrill was another key player, putting up ten points.

Crystal City's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for St. Paul Lutheran, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Crystal City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 81-16 loss against St. Vincent on the 6th. St. Paul Lutheran has also already played their next contest (against Clearwater), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
