Recap: Luverne Tigers vs. Calhoun Tigers
Even though the Luverne Tigers have not done well against the Calhoun Tigers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Luverne pulled ahead with a 49-48 photo finish over Calhoun. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Luverne.
Ladarrius Thigpen and Tyler Robertson certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Thigpen dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds, while Robertson dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Robertson scored a full 35.4% of Calhoun's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Robertson, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds.
Luverne now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Calhoun, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Luverne will square off against Paxton at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. Paxton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51 points per game. As for Calhoun, they will head out on the road to face off against Lanier at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Lanier is ranked 191st, while Calhoun is ranked 180th).
