The third road match was the charm for Wayne, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Douglas County West Falcon 5-4. This was payback for the Blue Devils, who suffered a 3-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Brodrick Tiedtke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on three hits.

At the plate, William Patefield was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alex Rodriguez, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Wayne now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Douglas County West, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Wayne will square off against rival South Sioux City on Thursday. Meanwhile, Douglas County West is set to face off against their familiar foe Platte Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
