Basketball Recap: Red Cloud's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Red Cloud was the 32-29 winner over Wilcox-Hildreth when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Cloud Warriors fell 42-32 to the Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Red Cloud saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aiva Rust posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Rust, who earned six points.

Wilcox-Hildreth's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Bunger, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Bunger is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted three or more in the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Cara Bunger, who had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Red Cloud's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2. As for Wilcox-Hildreth, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Red Cloud didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 41-37 loss against Shelton on the 20th. As for Wilcox-Hildreth, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 29-18 win against Arapahoe on the 19th.
