Baseball Game Preview: Lake Catholic Cougars vs. Perry Pirates

The Lake Catholic Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Perry Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lake Catholic 3.1, Perry 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

It was a proper cat-fight when Lake Catholic duked it out with Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin on Tuesday. The Cougars came out on top against the Lions by a score of 4-1.

Patrick Radigan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brayden Mann and A.J. Trobenter did most of the damage at the plate: Mann went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Trobenter went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Micah Nytrae was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Perry waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They were the clear victors by a 24-5 margin over the Warriors. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Perry's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Lake Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.
