Mt. Carmel has gone a perfect 7-0 against Grayville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Golden Aces will welcome the Bison at 4:30 p.m. Mt. Carmel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Mt. Carmel needed a bit of extra time to put away Casey-Westfield. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 10-6. The victory was nothing new for the Golden Aces as they're now sitting on three straight.
Lyla Keepes spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Evie Sellers, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Lewis, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mt. Carmel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 27 runs the game before, Grayville was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to Hutsonville/Palestine.
Ava Kleinschmidt made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Grayville's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Mt. Carmel, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
Grayville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mt. Carmel has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Grayville, though, as they've been averaging 9.6 hits. Given Mt. Carmel's sizable advantage in that area, the Bison will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mt. Carmel took their victory against Grayville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 21-3 score. Will the Golden Aces repeat their success, or do the Bison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
