Reed Long put up the most strikeouts he's had since back in April of 2024 on Monday. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Archbishop Hannan is 5-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 13-14 otherwise.

Even though Long couldn't lead Archbishop Hannan over Pearl River, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sadly, Long's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Hawks' nine-game streak of wins at home. With the streak broken, Long and the Hawks surely have a bit of extra motivation heading into Tuesday's match.
