Eaton came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Liberty Common Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Reds, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Liam Whalen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Keanan Gallegos looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, Malaki Dalpra was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Everett Edinger, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Eaton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty Common only managed three hits.
Eaton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Liberty Common, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eaton will face off against Resurrection Christian at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Reds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Liberty Common, they will take on Highland at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
