Baseball Game Preview: Pittsfield Saukees vs. Havana Ducks

The Pittsfield Saukees will square off against the Havana Ducks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Havana took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Pittsfield, who comes in off a win.

Last Wednesday, Pittsfield earned a 4-1 win over Greenfield/Northwestern. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Saukees.

Pittsfield got a great performance from Bobby Harris as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Draven Puterbaugh was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases.

Meanwhile, Havana was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 8-4 to Monmouth United.

Havana also got a good showing from Oscar Jones, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

At the plate, Jayden Weaver made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Owen Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Pittsfield's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Havana, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Pittsfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Havana in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 10-9. Does Pittsfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Havana turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
