Recap: University Cougars vs. Hagerty Huskies
The University Cougars''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by Hagerty at home and fell 41-3. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for University in their matchups with Hagerty: they've now lost six in a row.
Erik Rios threw for 65 yards on five of nine attempts. Jah?riel Miller-peterkin was his top target, picking up 40 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Jalon Lewis was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 42 receiving yards. Caden Mitchell was another key contributor, throwing for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
University's defeat was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-2 Lewisburg and 7-3 Cypress Creek (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.5% over those games). As for Hagerty, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
University will head out on the road to face off against Colonial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Colonial is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Hagerty, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Spruce Creek at 7:00 p.m.
