La Serna can attribute much of their success to Ayden Contreras, who rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and Grady Long, who picked up 37 receiving yards and a touchdown. Those 120 rushing yards gave Contreras a new career-high.
La Serna didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Kaimana Tufaga picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
La Serna's record now sits at 7-3. As for Troy, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Friday's match might be decided in the on the ground. Troy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 255.8 rushing yards per game.
