Basketball Game Preview: Katella Knights vs. Kennedy Fighting Irish

Katella has won three straight games at home, while Kennedy has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Katella Knights will welcome the Kennedy Fighting Irish at 6:31 p.m. Katella is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season.

Katella will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Segerstrom, who they had gone 0-8 against in their eight prior meetings. Katella came out on top against Segerstrom by a score of 51-42 on Friday.

Katella's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jesus Jaramillo, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillon Curtis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards.

Katella smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Kennedy earned a 61-50 win over Ocean View on Wednesday. Given the Fighting Irish's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Seahawks are ranked 1027th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Katella's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Kennedy, their win bumped their record up to 18-4.

Things could have been worse for Katella, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-50 loss to Kennedy in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Thankfully for Katella, Joseph Yoo (who dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
