Volleyball Recap: Rensselaer Central Takes a Loss

If Rensselaer Central was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Delphi Community on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bombers fell 3-1 to the Lafayette Central Catholic Knights on Thursday. The Bombers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Knights from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

While Rensselaer Central ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 26-28, 25-20.

Alivia Cain paced Rensselaer Central's offense, picking up 11 kills. Cain got some help from Hadley Hopp and her 12 assists. Rylie Moore controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Kiyah Sturgeon was nothing short of spectacular for Lafayette Central Catholic: she had 20 digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Charli Cain, who had 12 assists and seven digs.

Rensselaer Central's record now sits at 10-5. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-8 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rensselaer Central will welcome North Judson-San Pierre at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Clinton Prairie at 7:00 p.m.
