Soccer Game Preview: Gilmer vs. Calhoun

The Gilmer Bobcats are taking a road trip to take on the Calhoun Yellow Jackets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Gilmer lost 5-1 to Pickens on Monday.

Gilmer's goal came courtesy of Calli Wise, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, Calhoun fell victim to Adairsville and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Tigers are ranked 99th).

Calhoun's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Gilmer, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Gilmer suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Calhoun in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Gilmer was down 5-1.
