Softball Recap: Churchville-Chili Has No Trouble Against Canandaigua Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Victor, Churchville-Chili was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Canandaigua Academy Braves. The Saints have beaten the Braves the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Braves has come to flipping the script.

Bailey DiGiacomo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Carly Carpenter was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Jordan Sassone was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

The win got Churchville-Chili back to even at 7-7. As for Canandaigua Academy, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Coming up, Churchville-Chili will host Brockport at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.8 runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Canandaigua Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Spencerport at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rangers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Braves surely won't give up without a fight.
