Liberty has gone 6-1 against Preston recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Mountaineers will host the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Liberty is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Liberty fell victim to Lincoln and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 16-0 to the Cougars.
Meanwhile, Preston had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They won by a run and slipped past Bridgeport 10-9.
Mckenzie Price was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Price was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, Myla Wotring was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Zinn, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Preston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Preston's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
